“Are You With Me Now” – A.J. Ryder

Love’s real, not fade away – Buddy Holly

This has been a week with a little bit of jet lag and lots of follow-up from our trip to Australia. There’s been loads of excitement and a sense of “WOW, who knew!” from all who journeyed with us. I’m hopeful that Buddy’s line holds and the love doesn’t fade.

Here’s  just a few of the follow-ups that I’m involved in with Andrea and Anthonette.

  • Setting up a Zoom with The Met – Nancy, Joe and Brian about looking at applying for a federal grant for The Met as a magnet school using the IBPLC with Gillian Boyer-Cohen.

  • A research grant for The San Diego Met and UCSD around Community Schools looking at Empirical Reasoning and the IBPLC.

  • A research proposal from Northeastern studying the IBPLC here in the US.

  • A conversation with Darryll Steinberg around policy changes for CTE re: internships and seat-time in California

  • A B-U set up in Ohio.

  • Follow-up talks for B-U in Tasmania using the IBPLC.

  • Setting up BPL Barbados.

  • A program about working with colleges on getting them to use the IBPLC for admission as a lever to change k-12.

  • Potentially more work in Manitoba with schools’ way up north like 8 hours north of Winnipeg – Brrrr!

  • Support for BPL Kenya’s facility

  • Keeping the momentum going by presenting at conferences like Aurora

There’s lots of visits in my future to El Paso and Houston and of course, a visit to Lafayette to see Lenny, Walt and the team to observe the IBPLC in full throttle. And I can’t forget my trip to Namahana opening and Barbados this coming year.

One of the many beautiful things of bringing this many people together for this long is that their side conversations and meanderings yield new ways of working together. Can AI do any of that? Whaddya think?

In a few weeks, a report will come out about the trip that Scott Boldt aka Greenowl will put together. This will keep the momentum going!

This was a big week for BPLiving. Scott, MR and I got out a grant to the Tow Foundation for work specifically in California. The graphics for Andrew’s new book, A Walk in the Park – A Path To Wellness is just about complete and should be ready for our Leaving to Learn to Roger Williams Park at Big Bang. Taylor and I talked about how BPLiving will be woven into the Love Committee’s work at Big Bang. And our BPLiving Fellows program is off and running. All of this is connected to the work at Namahana where once again BPLiving is a throughline for āina, BPL and IBPLC.

Next week, I’m meeting with the Ports of Long Beach and Los Angeles. This meeting holds lots of potential for internships that involve Harbor Freight Fellows and more. Andrea and I also have a meeting with the Broad Foundation about CTE and the IBPLC in LA. Then on Saturday the 31st we will have a half-day summit introducing Harbor Freight Fellows to business and industry partners as a set up for work in the coming years.

Plenty, plenty, bye, bye!
